Michelle Romney

Michelle joined WSSC Water in July 2023. She oversees the office responsible for recruiting and hiring top talent, development and maintaining benefits, classification and compensation programs, conducting training, providing counseling, creating a supportive work environment and enforcing EEO/EEI policies.

Prior to WSSC Water, Michelle had a 30-year career in senior human resource positions with the State of Maryland. She was the Director of HR for the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), and before that MDE’s Deputy Director of HR and Fair Practices Director.

Michelle’s career includes serving as the Diversity and Equal Employment Opportunity Officer for Morgan State University and Executive Director of Equal Employment Opportunity for Maryland’s Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

A graduate of Hampton University, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a certificate in conflict resolution/mediation. Outside of WSSC Water, Michelle enjoys reading, exercising, and listening to reggae and calypso music.
