WSSC Water takes part in eWeek every year to generate student interest in engineering, technology and water careers - and we hope, fill our talent pipeline!
eWeek: Generating student interest in engineering and technology careers and raising public awareness.
When you get a glass of cool water, wash your hair or water your garden, you probably don’t think about engineering. Once the water goes down the drain, you forget it. But not the folks at WSSC Water - water is always on our minds.
We're always thinking about water. How to filter it, treat it, protect it, test it – you get the picture. To get the job done, we need engineers. Engineers solve everyday problems and are always ready to solve the next challenge. We need engineers now and in the future.
That's why National Engineers' Week was born. eWeek, which highlights the intersection of engineering and water, aims to introduce students to engineering and the field's career possibilities.
Every year, WSSC Water participates in eWeek by welcoming students to shadow an engineer for a day, tour our facilities or try hands-on experiments and challenges.

National Engineers Week, or eWeek, was founded in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers, to ensure a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce. EWeek aims to increase understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers. eWeek raises public awareness of engineers' positive contributions and real-life solutions. It also promotes recognition of the importance of a technical education and a high level of math, science, and technology literacy, and motivates youth, to pursue engineering careers.
